Saturday night we went on a ghost tour! I'm usually quite cynical about ghosts... and this tour has not changed my mind. So then why did I go? D: Because Ed is also very cynical but when he did the tour a few years back, he had some strange experiences plus the tour itself was depressing/scary enough. He still doesn't believe in ghosts/spirits in the "after-life" sense though.
Anyway! This tour was held in the Sydney Quarantine station. We were given lanterns and shoved into dark depressing buildings to listen to stories. Back in the day, when people migrated to Australia, they were held in this Quarantine station to clear them of diseases such as Polio, Influenza, Tuberculosis (sp?) etc before the were released. (Most of them never got out!) When Ed visisted, the tour was more of a historical tour about the screwed up things which went on at the station. But when I went, a few years and 15million dollars investment later, it's turned into a "ghost tour" with a faggy tour guide who attempted many cheap scares throughout the tour. He also claimed he was a medium, a quatre Aborigine and a flight attendant by day. -_-; Many buildings and stories were sacrificed for his own "encounters". Sigh :(
There was also a bajillion people doing the tour at the same time so, ghost or not, the atmosphere was killed instantly.

There was an "Asiatics" section of the quarantine centre. Needless to say, this was where the Asians/non-Anglo people were kept. To say Australia was racist back then would be an understatement :( -we actually had a "White Australia" policy up until the 70s. So initially these Asians were kept in tents and even the doctors refused to treat them :( They were only given rice and were only allowed to write letters to families which were burnt and never sent out! There was a Chinese paragraph etched into a cliff face. Far too dark to read but the writing was impeccable, especially when it's been etched into rocks. I'm assuming these Chinese people actually had to pay alot of money in order to migrate to a different country so most of them were quite high class/educated. Or the person could have just been an engraver of some sort o_o; Really sad :( because the paragraph translated into something like "Australia is hell, why would anyone want to come here."
Apparently, one of the guides quit her job because she had to fetch a lantern someone left in the Asiatic quatres and when she was just about to drive away, she saw an Asian man standing infront of her car. o_o;

One of the most screwed up treatments the quarantine station forced upon migrants were the showers and the inhalation room. Upon arrival, people were forced to take mild acid showers which stripped the top two layers of their skin and then they were shoved into a tiny inhalation room and forced to inhale sulphur to kill the diseases in their lungs.

In the hospital buildings, patients were bolted upright in their beds and needles were inserted into their lungs, without morphine or any type of anesthetic, to drain liquid build up in their lungs. So they were kept alive but probably would have preferred to die :(

There was not enough room to give everyone proper burials so bodies were often dumped and buried in masses. One of the places our tour skipped was a hill that was literally made from dead bodies piled underneath.

Also, once a fire broke out in the station and after the firefighters put out the fire they were not allowed to leave as it was a quarantine centre. Some committed suicide.

It was just a really depressing place.

So my only remotely "supernatural" experience was in the inhalation rooms. For a few seconds I felt dizzy and rocked back and forth a little. Afterwards the guide said because these rooms were one of the first encounters for the migrants, they would have just hopped off their ships after months of traveling and you may have experienced some dizziness :o
but I'm pretty sure mine was because of the tight space and complete darkness.

The place I enjoyed the most was the shower and the mortuary! The mortuary because it was one of the first places we went to and I was still quite scared then. The showers were at the end of the trip, and rightly so because it was the scariest. I was actually very very scared, especially towards the end of the showers where light was scarce and the group started splitting up. Lucky I had Ed hugging me from the back the whole time :D Otherwise I probably would have lost control of my legs and just stopped walking.

Felt like poop for a whole week but, that was solved by a spat-triggered cry for a good half hour on the only shoulder that solves these problems :)

Two weeks - Ed's sister and husband (her's, not Ed's...) left for the UK after living with us for 6 months. It was quite hard for the both of us :(. They were really wonderful people to be around and we're missing them still. The house feels so empty now, especially when it's practically just me and him most of the time, apart from a couple of random dishes popping up for us to wash and... yeah...

1.5 weeks - Decided to cut down my food intake for more than half after seeing some pictures of some fat lady who was wearing the same dress and hair as me at Stephen's early Christmas party! No idea who she was...
Lost 3kg already :D My goal... I don't work too well with goals ><; I'll just try to keep this up as long as I can. All I know is that it's only hard for the first few days, especially after you see results ;D

Today
Visited Grace with a bag of cookies because I ditched her plans for a long drive on Saturday :3 She loves cookies o_o;
Her receptionist said that I looked too young to be a client... >.>;
I'm offended but happy about looking young at the same time XD
Also bought some clothes etc at DFO. and a really nice scarf for $1 dollar! o_o; it's not even outdated or anything... plus you can still wear it here with the recent strange chills.

Fast-forward
One week - I'll be heading off to Shanghai again. Looking forward to the shopping and seeing the family but not much else! Felt like I was just there, seriously :/

So last week whilst doing some fumbbling around on the WoW forums, I clicked a link which I thought was to a talent tree BUT it shut down my WoW and about 30 mins later Ed was kicked off mid-raid D:
We were getting hacked!
We took many procautions but long story short, his account was ok, my priest was stripped but we got everything back and both our computers formatted. So much trouble just for my measley 900g and whatever my inventory was worth to the npc.
How annoying :(

Also something else equally annoying! We made a photo book (www.blurb.com) for Ed's sister and brother-in-law to take to the UK. I was really looking forward to surprising them with the idea since it's still quite fresh. When they came home tonight, they burst into our room with a photobook from their collegues T_T;
Oh well. Atleast the photos are all different and their photos aren't embelished with my awesome graphics in photoshop XD

No photos since... empty computer

My mum bought me some thyme and basil seedlings a couple of weeks ago and helped me plant them in a box. They've been growing really slowly, and look quite weak and yellowy now :(
After only 5 mins of googling, I've learnt that they have not been getting enough sun and wayyy too much water. :( Well she said if it's really hot, I have to water them every day! and it's been really hot the past few days. Still, should have done some research before I almost killed them.

Also, a few days before the seedlings, Ed and I decided to cut up a rotting tomato and throw it into one of the pots. We've been noticing some "weeds" growing in them lately. I googled and realised they were the tomato seedlings D:
So just now, I transfered them into seperate pots. Had no idea what I was doing... hope they survive T_T
They're so tiny and fragile D: and bruised from my fat fingers :<.

They look so dammaged :(

I have such bad luck with planting too. About a year ago, I planted a strawberry plant... it's doubled in size now but no flowers or fruit...
and my lavender plant, which are meant to be very hardy, just died for no reason, even under my mum's care.

Meanwhile, here's a zucchini that my mum grew (and planted, without my cursed non-green thumbs)

Yes, that's ONE zucchini.
